Why I Built This:
After working a career as a real estate appraiser, I knew there was no growth beyond becoming a fully licensed appraiser. Without owning my own business, that was the ceiling. I knew I needed to switch. This started my path down the IT route. Given that I had no background or schooling in IT, I discovered certifications as the best path to 1) get me in the door, and 2) to level up as fast as I could. My goal was to get to 6 figures in 3 years (after coming in as level 1 help desk making $40k). (Spoiler alert: I hit that number exactly, with a $100k offer almost 2 months before the 3 year mark). I went after any certs I could get my hands on. This showed my employer that I was hungry, willing to learn/grow, and interested in taking on more complex tasks at work.
I started with CompTIA after seeing that from so many influencers online and quickly achieved the A+, Network+ and Security+.
The challenge when studying for those was that I always needed to be at my PC using sites like Udemy, Professor Messer, Coursera, etc. Some had mobile-reactive sites, but ultimately, trying to study on mobile became a pain. After lots of research, I only found one option: Pocket Prep. While the app looked good, the $20/mo price tag did not. Making only $40k, every dollar counted and as TV subscriptions, student loans and other bills continued to increase, I just couldn't justify the $20/mo.So I set out to build my own. I've been working on this for over a year. While it isn't flashy or as sophisticated as something like Pocket Prep or Duolingo, it gets the job done. It provides you quality questions, multiple choice answers and then explanations on why that answer was right or wrong. I enjoyed taking the practice exams that Udemy and professor Messer offered, so I wanted to replicate that on mobile. Mobile offers the flexibility of studying wherever you are and can replace the doom-scrolling on Instagram/TikTok. Whether you're in the bathroom, on your break, on the train, or just waiting at the doctor's office, you can have a quick study session on the go.

FAQ
What certs will be covered by TPL?
A+ (1 and 2), Network+, Security+. CySA+, Pentest+, CASP+ all coming soon, followed by others like CISSP, CEH and CISM.
How much does the app cost?
The goal is to keep it cheaper than a cup of coffee. When I was studying for certs, the only mobile option was more than a Netflix subscription and at my income, that was too much.
When is TPL Launching?
Very soon! We are currently working on approval via the Apple AppStore and Google Play Stores. The website will also be available soon, though this is a mobile-first tool.

It costs you nothing, other than providing your email and helping me build the audience.
Plus you'll get a 25% discount code (good for the first year), for putting your name/email down.
